OFF SEASON CONDITIONING: WHAT SHOULD MY DAUGHTER DO OFF OF THE ICE - DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS TO HELP TAKE HER HOCKEY GAME TO THE NEXT LEVEL?
This is the most common question I am asked by parents of athletes? This is a great question. My response is to recommend a consistent weekly - anatomically balanced schedule. This program will only require 30 minutes each day! You will have a specific focus for each day of the week, including a weekly recovery day with strategies on how best to recover.
Creating a schedule that includes functional strength, balance, mobility exercises, explosive speed & power exercises and cardiovascular training for strength endurance as well as doing H.I.I.T. workouts.
To support OGHA families and young aspiring athletes, I will be hosting a “summer training” program for parents/athletes, which will include an activity session for athletes. While the athletes participate in the exercises (voluntary basis only), the parents can relax and ask questions along the way. This session will be held on Saturday APRIL 30th at 10am-11:30am. The location will be at Jim Durrell in the ELLWOOD meeting room, just inside the front doors. Now that the COVID restrictions are reduced, we are able to accept the first 50 families (one parent plus athlete(s) per family).
At this meeting, you will be given an information package on conditioning and take aways to help your daughter(s) create a weekly activity plan. Each athlete will walk away with a core stability plan, tips for developing strength, balance and flexibility.
To register you need to go on the RAMP app. The fee for each child is $20. 100% of the monies raised will be given to the Lady 67’s Tier 1 program, within the OGHA. Registration is now open……
